Here is some more wonderful and inspiring feedback from a woman who has been a friend of the Women's Centre for 20 years.

Thanks to the Women's Centre I started a new relationship.

Thanks to the Women's Centre I made many friends.

Thanks to the Women's Centre I enjoyed many evenings watching Lesbian videos and DVDs with friends.

Thanks to the Women's Centre I came out of my shell and was in charge organising evenings showing Lesbian videos and DVDs.

Thanks to the Women's Centre I was able to read Lesbian books.

Thanks to the Women's Centre my partner felt safe to come out as a Lesbian and regain her confidence, plus found me as her partner.

Thanks to the Women's Centre I was able to tell other women and Lesbians about amazing workshops.

Thanks to the Women's Centre another dear friend met her new partner and attended a few workshop, which gave her the support she needed in some difficult situations.

Thanks to the Women's Centre other groups could organise and network other events.

Thanks to the Women's Centre we get the event calendar for Gay and Lesbian activities, not only in our local area but of the whole of the South Island, sometimes even beyond!

Thanks to the Women's Centre Lesbians enjoy a peaceful setting with amazing staff to find support in difficult times in their lives.

I only have good memories of the Women's Centre!

  • Testimonial in support of the Women's Centre     14 April 2016

I wanted to share with you this testimonial we received at the Centre the other day. It is from Ruth Gardner, Manager of Volunteering Canterbury. I hope her words can inspire you to share your experiences and support too.

"In 1993 I joined the Women's Centre as a Volunteer Support Worker, and became a member of the collective. The experience of working with a group of dedicated feminists is one that has inspired me through many years. I've retained a fond interest in the Centre, watched it grow and adapt to the changing needs of local women, and often referred women there. I know that having this woman-centred service available is vital to our society, and hope the Board and staff will be successful in gaining sustainable funding to ensure the Centre's continuation".

Also a quick update on our Givealittle fundraiser - we have now been donated $2825 to date. Great effort!

Keep sharing the link, encourage people to visit or call us to find out what we do, maybe even write or video a testimonial in support of the Centre. These can be emailed to admin@womenscentre.co.nz

As part of our campaign to raise awareness of the funding crisis facing the Women's Centre, we were able to give an interview on the PlainsFM breakfast show yesterday.

Remember, women are the backbone of society - we hold so much - if women do well, our whanau, friends, our community does well. The Women's Centre is there to help and be that ray of hope when things are not going well. Let's work together to keep the Centre open.
