Women's Network Whanganui

Help the Women's Network Whanganui keep providing personal support services to women and their families in Whanganui.

Manawatu / Whanganui

YOUR DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS IMPORTANT TO US! Each year we have a fundraising target of $5-10,000 to enable us to keep providing consistent services to Whanganui women and their families.

Since 1986 we have processed thousands of enquiries each year. In 2018 we had our biggest year ever, processing nearly 8,000 enquiries. Over the last two we have averaged around 7,000 client contacts annually. That's A LOT for an organisation with ONE employee.

We support women experiencing LIFE CHALLENGES, changes and times of transition. Our activities, events and projects address self-esteem and body image, communication strategies, parenting and relationship guidance, interventions for family harm, assistance with job applications and CVs, providing clothing, and we are a great place for seeking general community information and support.

Our programmes facilitate empowerment, early intervention, and post-crisis support, improved well-being, community education and SOCIAL CONNECTEDNESS for Whanganui women and their families.

SHOW YOUR AROHA for Whanganui women today. With our 35 YEAR HISTORY of working with our local Whanganui community, we look forward to continuing to meet our vision of making positive change for women in partnership with YOU.

Community Contribution  9 November 2022

Our team experienced a different kind of fireworks with a cracker of an evening on Saturday 5 November at the Whanganui Regional Business Awards hosted by the Chamber of Commerce at the Whanganui War Memorial Centre. It was wonderful to be part of a sold-out event which saw around 300 people pack into the main hall for an evening of celebration for the first awards ceremony since 2018.

To our absolute delight, the Women's Network won the Judith Timpany Community Contribution Gold Award. Judith was a treasured supporter, mentor and friend of the Women's Network. In her role as the chief executive of the Whanganui Community Foundation over many years, Judith worked hard to ensure that community development remained at the heart of Whanganui's strategic direction. Her contributions to Philanthropy New Zealand, to challenging the status quo, and to championing equality for women remain a living legacy.

We couldn't think of a more fitting person to be the inspiration for this award, and we are so honoured by this acknowledgement from the awards team. We dedicate this award to everyone who has believed in us over the last 36 years.

To the women who bravely founded our organisation, to our distinguished alumni of former volunteers and committee members, to our funders and supporters, and our amazing community partners, this one is for you.

And, to all the women who need our support, who bravely step through our doors and courageously come to our activities and events, we are here for you. Because you deserve to stand in your rightful place, to dream, and to smash any remaining glass ceilings.

Donations from our community are always welcome, with every dollar making a difference in the lives of local women.
