Help us build Youth Hub Christchurch!

Canterbury

Youth Hub Christchurch aims to be a turning point in the lives of young people aged 10-25. The Hub is the first of its kind in New Zealand and is based in the heart of central Christchurch.

The Hub aims to deliver everything Christchurch's young people need to improve and maintain their mental health, from supported housing and health and support services to spaces for recreation and creativity.

Stage One of the Hub, which includes a supported housing wing with 22 bedrooms for youth at risk of homelessness, a wraparound services block where a dozen youth providers can work and an outdoor activities courtyard opened in October 2024.

An Events and Activities Centre will open in 2026.

We continue to fundraise to build another wing of supported housing and creative arts and garden spaces. These will open when funding is secured.

More about us

April Newsletter - The excitement is building!  29 April 2026

Things are really starting to come together at Youth Hub Christchurch, and we’re excited to share a sneak peek of what’s been happening lately.

Our April newsletter is now live, with updates on the upcoming opening of our new Events Centre, something we know will make a real difference for young people and youth organisations in our city. There’s a real buzz building as we get closer, and we can’t wait to open the doors.

We’re thrilled to welcome Kate Anastasiou, who has joined us to help bring the Events Centre to life. Soon we will have new services and organisations who will join our growing hub in the new office spaces. It will make it even easier for young people to access the support they need - all in one place.

As we complete this next stage, we’re already looking ahead. Our vision includes Youth Apartments to support rangatahi and young families at risk of homelessness, as well as future spaces for creative arts, training, workshops, and community connection - including gardens, a café they can run, and welcoming hangout areas.

Every donation brings us closer to completing a place where young people feel supported, connected, and able to thrive.

Check out the full update on our blog - and thank you for being part of this journey with us.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause. Dame Bagshaw and I have worked together for 24 years. First I was a librarian, then as a committee member-advising on ensuring that children, youth and young adults with lived experience of impairment get medical and counselling support fast. I am a SURVIVOR of sexual, emotional, physical, financial and spiritual abuse. I have experienced panic attacks, anxiety, and failed many suicide attempts. I will be volunteering at the Youth Hub Trust Te Hurihanga o Rangatahi in the hope that children and young adults in Christchurch don’t endure over 40 years of suffering as I did. May God bless Sue and everyone who sets foot on the ground of Youth Hub Trust Te Hurihanga o Rangatahi.
