Great to have members of the Community Liaison Group visit the construction site today to see the supported housing wing and wrap-around services block take shape! Once completed the supported housing wing will be able to provide accommodation for up to 23 young people for a period of 3-18 months, provided they are actively looking for education, training or work, while the wrap-around services block will house a dozen youth organisations. 🏡

We're thrilled to share that the Wayne Francis Charitable Trust has come onboard as a key funding partner, with a $1 million donation to ensure stage one can be completed by mid-next year.
“The Youth Hub will provide what we know works for young people – connected, holistic support to achieve life-long health and wellbeing through positive youth development,” Wayne Francis Charitable Trust Chair Helena Francis says.
“There are young people in Christchurch who, through no fault of their own, require support from a range of agencies. We’re proud to play a part in creating positive change for these young people, as well as for the communities we share.”

This week we were privileged to show Christchurch City Councillors and representatives from our major funding partners including Anglican Care and the Rātā Foundation around the Youth Hub construction site at 109 Salisbury Street. The visits also coincided with the first columns being lifted into place. Construction is all upwards from here!
We are very pleased to announce that the Rātā Foundation has given us a $500,000 funding boost! The funding will be instrumental in getting our supported housing facilities and office block for a dozen youth service providers to be co-located on-site completed by mid next year. They also made a great video for us about our project. Check it out at the link below.
It was a packed house last night for our Jingo fundraiser (musical bingo) organised by the amazing team at Rotaract Christchurch! Great to have representatives from our construction partner Naylor Love there, as well as some of the providers moving into the Youth Hub including Te Tahi Youth (formerly 298 Youth Health) and People First New Zealand.
Great to get our youth representatives out and about visiting Christchurch secondary schools to raise awareness about the Youth Hub! Yesterday we were at Christchurch Girls' High School who have also chosen us as their schoolwide charity to support for 2023!

After a decade long fight to build Youth Hub Christchurch we're stoked to have diggers on the ground demolishing the old bowling clubrooms and remediating the soil at our site at 109 Salisbury Street in central Christchurch. Once the site is cleared in 2-3 months, the foundations will be drilled, before Naylor Love begins work on building the supported housing wing and services blocks. Stay tuned for more updates!
Kia ora,
I’m pleased to report that we are making great progress with the detailed design phase for the Youth Hub buildings nearly finished. We are also looking forward to starting site preparations in autumn to make way for construction work.
As we venture deeper into 2022 our focus is now turning to ramping up our fundraising efforts to raise the additional $12.5 million we need to build Youth Hub Christchurch.
With Covid continuing to cause widespread uncertainty and disruptions and construction costs and inflation increasing by the day, the need to raise the additional funds and get building underway as soon as possible is more critical than ever.
To assist us, I’m pleased to share with you our new fundraising videos put together by the very talented John Sellwood from Telling Lives. I also want to thank our Ambassador New Zealand netballer Jane Watson and our youth volunteers for starring in the videos.
Please help us by sharing these videos through your networks or donating what you are able to. Every dollar gets us one step closer to making this dream for Christchurch’s young people a reality.

We did it we have reached a good understanding with the neighbours and we have the big tick from the Environment Court to move ahead with the huild. We hope phase 1 will be finished by the end of 2023. Now to get going for the funds for a creative arts and indoor rec centre and more housing.
Let's GO Outautahi Christchurch:-)
The Christchurch City Council supported by the Youth Hub Trust will be entering mediation with the Victoria Neighbourhood Association to see if we can come to an agreement so that the Resource Consent for the building of the Hub is affirmed.
This will happen at the end of this month. Will keep everyone updated.
Thank you for your support
We are making slow progress but we are pleased that we can guarantee that all donations will go to building the Hub facility as we have the cost of the court case pledged.
thanks again for all your support
Thank you for your precious donation. Hope 2021 goes really well for you
Thank you for your precious donation. Hope 2021 goes really well for you
Thank you very much for all your support this year. Our Highlights:
The Government awarded The Youth Hub Trust a grant of $10milion towards the cost of building the housing part of the project as Shovel Ready Money, in July.
The Trust was granted Resource Consent by the Christchurch City Council in November this year after a public hearing, delayed by Covid.
Now we are facing another delay as the Victorian Neighbourhood Residents Association have appealed that decision and this will be held in the Environment Court next year. This will cost more money and we need up to $200,000.
We now need your support as we feel that this site is exactly what is needed by the young people who will be using this facility. We will continue.
We wish a very Happy Christmas and a wonderful 2021. Best wishes from the Youth Hub Trust, Te Hurihanga o Rangatah
