Help us build Youth Hub Christchurch!
Canterbury
Youth Hub Christchurch aims to be a turning point in the lives of young people aged 10-25. The Hub will be the first of its kind in New Zealand and will be based in the heart of central Christchurch.
It will house a collaboration of organisations under one roof delivering wrap-around services including mental health, medical, educational, employment and training, recreation, creativity and social entrepreneurship.
A key feature of the Youth Hub is its supported housing facilities, which will provide accommodation for up to 40 young people aged 16-23.
Anglican Care has purchased an acre of land on Salisbury Street for the Youth Hub to use and the Government has granted us $18.1 million for construction. The Rātā Foundation has also granted us $500,000 and the Wayne Francis Charitable Trust donated $1 million towards Stage One.
We continue to fundraise to fitout the facility, as well as for stage two which includes an apartment block with 5 apartments each with 2-3 bedrooms, a basketball courtyard, public cafe which will be used for training purposes, creativity, music, performance and events spaces, an art gallery, education and training areas and planter boxes and greenhouses on the roof.
Currently under construction at 109 Salisbury Street in the central city, Youth Hub Christchurch is the first of its kind in New Zealand and will provide everything young people need to maintain and improve their mental health from supported housing and health and support services to recreation and creativity.
