Tracy Johnson

Individual, Nationwide

When she was 12, Tracy Johnson was diagnosed with glomerulonephritis, an illness that stops the kidneys from working properly and can lead to chronic kidney failure. In her mid-30s Tracy’s kidneys began to fail and, with three children, she endured dialysis for four years until a compatible donor was found. But now that kidney too is failing and Tracy is seriously ill again. However, she has been given a second chance thanks to the kindness of a friend, Fiona Couchman, who is donating one of her kidneys – and to an innovative technique that allows kidney transplants to be made with incompatible blood types. Tracy has to move to Auckland for the surgery and will be unable to work for two months.

Tracy's transplant surgery has been put back 6 months due to her improved blood test results. We are keeping the Give A Little account running and this gives us more time to fundraise. Look out for new Quiz night dates.

Thanks to all who have donated already it is greatly appreciated and will make a huge difference when the time comes for surgery.
