I am a passionate advocate for wildlife conservation, particularly reptiles, amphibians, insects, and their habitats. I am currently undertaking a PhD research project on using drone technology to locate lizards in inaccessible terrain. In addition to this, I am an independent ecological consultant operating my own business (Southern scales) specialising in herpetology (skinks and geckos) and Lepidoptera (moths and butterflies). My mahi over the last few decades has been almost entirely on Aotearoa/New Zealand’s beautiful lizards, leading projects focused on their conservation and advocacy. Along the way I have also assisted law enforcement with the identification of illegally collected (poached) geckos and scientifically described three new lizard species from our remote mountain ranges. I also co-supervise other post-graduate students and provide general support for up-and-coming ecologists with an interest in lizards. Feel free to get in touch with me anytime :)
