I'm a Wellington based mother, business owner operator, and ultra runner. My passion for ultra-marathons was ignited in 2010; by an unorthodox honeymoon, running 250km self-supported through the Gobi Desert in northwestern China.
2015 was the first year I approached ultras competitively. I enlisted a coach, and my subsequent race results proved that this was a tactical decision. In early 2016, I won the Tarawera Ultramarathon (100km), that same year I represented New Zealand at the Trail World Championships in Portugal, and ranked fifth female on the Ultra-Trail World Tour (an international circuit comprising 20 races of at least 100km). I've raced in New Zealand, Australia, USA, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Portugal, Italy, Austria and Switzerland; consistently placing in the Top 10.
I'm slightly bemused to find myself in my late forties with an energetic 11 year old, an exceedingly supportive husband, a small business, and a growing string of ultra-marathon titles to my name. Anyhow, I've decided that as long as I'm exemplifying "anything is possible with mind-set, self discipline and perseverance", then I'm quite literally going to RUN with it!
