Samantha Griggs

I am a Tarleton State University senior majoring in English. After graduating in December 2010, my hopes are to spend a significant amount of time devoting myself to volunteering abroad and in the states. A lot can be learned about human nature and one’s self by opening up one’s heart and time to help others. Last semester I worked with a six year old autistic hyperactive boy named Caleb. We played and had a fun time and many adventures. The bond that developed between us brought me so much joy that I realized that happiness does not come from a variety of material possessions and the successes defined by society, but by people loving other people. I hope to gain experience outside of my university before obtaining a master’s degree hoping to gain some wisdom in my experiences in order to obtain more knowledge.
