Hi I'm Sarah,
I'm married to Nick who decided to run across America to raise awareness and funds for Pulmonary Fibrosis. On the 14th of May he started his run from Santa Monica in Los Angeles and ran more than a marathon each day. On day 81, at 8.30am in the morning on the 2nd of August, he was deliberately hit at 65 miles per hour by a pick up truck in a hit and run just 18 miles out of Columbus, Ohio. Nick was on the shoulder of the road running into the traffic and I was on a 'hands free' Skype call with him and alerted our daughter Emily and the emergency services. Within 3 hours I was traveling 35 hours to get to him and I left the life the life I knew behind. At the time of writing this, I have been in America for 3 months and have moved our family to Columbus, Ohio as Nick sustained very serious injuries and needs continued surgical and rehabilitative care. It makes sense for us to remain here until he is more stable to return home.
