Raising funds for the reassessment of Hi-Cane (Hydrogen Cyanamide) We want this lethal chemical out of New Zealand.
Nationwide
Myself and Leigh Bramwell have been working for the last 12 months trying to get the chemical Hi-Cane banned. Hi-Cane is used every July/August by kiwifruit orchardists to promote bud burst in deciduous crops and is effective when applied before budbreak. Just over 50% of the contents of this water-based product is hydrogen cyanamide. We have contacted over 20 MPs and government departments and two weeks ago we were finally able to prove that the grounds exist for the reassessment of Hi-Cane (Hydrogen Cyanamide). The fee for the reassessment is $28,750.00. If you would like this dangerous chemical banned please assist our cause. Hi-Cane is lethal to dogs, bees, fish, and eels. It has been banned in most other countries. Europe banned it in 2010 once it realised how dangerous it was to spray operators and bystanders. Please help us get Hi-Cane out of New Zealand.
The funds are to pay the EPA (Environmental Protection Authority) the reassessment fee of $28,750.00
