On the 6th of May, NZAC is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the first ascent of Mt Kangchenjunga, by NZer Norman Hardie.
Canterbury
Mr Hardie will be giving a slideshow and account of the expedition in Christchurch. We are desperately keen to have his lecture and slides professionally filmed and edited, but the $900 is unbudgeted. A digital film will ensure that this remarkable achievement by a NZer and important era in mountaineering history is preserved forever.
NZAC is the national body for climbing and mountaineering in New Zealand. It aims to provide services for climbers, protect the interests and safety of climbers and promote climbing activities.
As a Life Member and past-President, Norman Hardie is one of our most revered and respected members.
