As a community let's buy the MOA and keep him!
Manawatu / Whanganui
This fine fella created by Whanganui artist/sculptor Jack Marsden-mayer has been in-situ at the Whanganui I-site, down by the river, on loan for the last year and his time is nearly up. Needless to say he has become a local icon and a very much loved part of the scenery. His time on loan is now over and he will have to go.......The risk now is he will be sold privately and leave the region...
BUT!! The Whanganui Regional Museum WANTS HIM! and this project is to RAISE FUNDS to purchase the moa on behalf of the Museum so he can stay in our city and be enjoyed for many years to come.
If successful, the Moa will become a permanent resident outside the Museum building in the centre of Whanganui. This is fitting as our local Museum boasts the largest collection of Moa bones in the country. The hope is he will become a local icon and be around for many years to come :-)
NB: your pledge is greatly appreciated.... no money will be taken UNLESS we reach the target by the end of November....we'd love your support to make this happen! Let's keep the MOA!
IMPORTANT NOTICE!!!
We've had some feedback that people are finding the Givealittle pledging process confusing...this is how it works .........
This is a GOAL-DRIVEN project in that we have to reach a TARGET to be successful. If you pledge a donation you are supporting this project reach fruition and Whanganui gets to keep the MOA.
No MONEY will be taken from your credit-card UNTIL we reach the goal...so however much you pledge it will show up as being a $1 transaction as you finalise...this is just an administrative step. Just click OK and your original pledge amount will be recorded. Thanks.
PLEASE pledge your support!! There is a real risk we will lose this wonderful piece of art from our city
This is a community project
