With the removal of the old iconic jetty at Lake Ohakuri, there are safety concerns for those that swim and boat on this lake
Bay of Plenty
We've reached our goal on Givealittle however there is no way to change the goal. We still need to cover import duties, shipping, anchors and rope to secure the jetty & transport from Tauranga to the lake. It's looking to be around the $7-8k mark.
We wish to build a pontoon jetty to replace the old iconic wooden jetty that was recently removed due to safety concerns. We are aiming for a 8m long jetty, 1.5m wide with a 2.5m x 2.5m landing at the end.
If funds don't allow, we will look to build a minimum of a 5m long by 1.5m wide replacement.
Mercury have even agreed to contribute $1,000 towards the project provided we get it past the consent process.
I have now reached out to Waikato Regional Council to seek permission and we're part way through getting the consent fees waived however still need to apply for the consent as per normal process.
Many of us old and new would want to cherish this lake and the memories it has provided and will provide into the future.
Lets create a safe environment for our community and for the enjoyment of both locals and holiday makers that utilise this beautiful lake!
I am simply co-ordinating everything and will try and get a team building day to build the pontoon;
Build a pontoon to replace the removed jetty. 100% of the funds will be used for this project. If for some reason we get a lot of interest, perhaps a second pontoon could be installed, however if anything remains it will be donated to a charity or another givealittle project on this site.
