Pass It On - Share A Smile

What is Pass It On?

The heart of this project is to make people smile, it began two years ago when I sat down and figured out how many people I can make smile in a day. The number I came up with just wasn't good enough for me, I dedicate my life to helping others find joy and had the idea of making small cards with messages to share and impact people. Through visual typography-style works of art, I create these living art pieces that take on a life and adventure of their own as they pass from person to person. I want to make people feel good, feel inspired and help them to pass that feeling on to others. This art takes the form of small, compact business cards, perfect for sharing and displaying. The cards are durable and the pictures vibrant and eye catching.

As Pass It On grows and I look at more ways of inspiring people, I will work with various New Zealand artists to come up with future designs, keeping it fresh and exciting and giving artists a chance to showcase their work to you all!

When this project came about, it began in the West Auckland community and on a small scale it was a great success. I was working at a restaurant and saw the potential for this idea and set up my first designs at the counter. They were dancing throughout the community, among loving friends, family and strangers alike. The response was incredible - the simple joy and touching moments it brought to others warmed me and drove me to take it further, so here I am, doing what I can to create a platform for connection, inspiration and smiles for everyone in New Zealand.

I will be working closely with various charities I support and will create stunning cards to represent what they believe in and stand for. We are committed to letting everyone have their say. People will choose which charity they would like to give to with our first fleet of beautiful cards.

$5 from each pack of cards sold will be put straight back into your community, going to the charities New Zealander's support! I'm not in this to make money, I'm doing this to create a positive community level change in the country in a unique and novel way that I have seen work first hand.

To get this project of the ground however requires money, I am beginning with nothing, all I have to put into it right now is my heart and passion! This is where I could use a hand from you. Help me to help us help others. As the cards move from person to person, (in itself a delightful act which I have seen bring smiles and inspiration to many) they will have the opportunity to check out our website and learn more about Pass It On. They can purchase their own cards to share and be instigators of the positive community change! $5 from each pack goes to the charities that they will choose in order to impact more lives, these cards just keep on giving!

I have the website and first set design of the cards ready to go. The money I am seeking will be used to set up the structures of Pass It On, I have the initial costs of getting the cards and packaging them. I have the graphic designer I am working with who has created both cards and website. I live simply, and as such I do not have a computer however I will now need one to maintain the day to day functioning of Pass It On. I am also creating a promotional video for Pass It On to share with others the story of what it is about. In March I am working with a charity to raise awareness about bullying within Maori and Pacific Island communities and I am looking for funds to help set this up to support a wonderful cause.

I am using this crowd funding platform as I believe in the power of connection that we all have and I know how many small acts can create a great change. This is the beginning, and to help me get to where I need to be is a mini exercise in the ethos of Pass It On itself! Small, thoughtful acts leading to something bigger, greater that can help so many.
