I have an opportunity to join Scoop's live blog team at OSOS conference. As we're covering OSOS at no charge, this covers some basics.
Auckland
The guys at Scoop Media have offered me the opportunity to join their live blog team at OSOS conference. This asks: what would the world be like if it was built on the principles of open source? How can we use open source ethos to make the world more accessible, transparent, and collaborative?
They have great speakers lined up: Hiria Te Rangi; Max Rushbrooke; folks from Action Station; and American honchos Douglass Rushkoff (MIT) and Evan Henshaw Plath (Ruby on Rails, Twitter) and tons more.
It'll appeal to anyone in public service, academia, or business who's invested in the idea of making things better for everyone. General themes: democracy, technology, economics.
The team at Scoop have been doing tons of work to develop high quality, viable, affordable journalism in and about Aotearoa. As they're a not-for-profit, I'm volunteering my time, and I need a few bucks for basics: travel, accommodation, maybe a sarnie at the airport.
Your support will enable me to help anyone anywhere online to get the goss and the insights at the event. We'll open up OSOS!
NB, this my own crowd funding page, and not part of Scoop's official fundraising campaign (which, by the way, I wholeheartedly support!).
The gig: I fly to Wellington, go the conference, and post everything I see and hear on Scoop. And then that'll get replicated on the OSOS site.
Done! 16 August 2016
This is very humbling. I can't thank everyone enough. I'll let you know either here on my blog www.pitchbender.wordpress.com as soon as we have the live blog and publishing pages set up.
Fan-bloomin-tastic!
