Support a mature student with study tools

I need to purchase a replacement tablet laptop to assist in my studies (41yo Male, 2nd year Nursing student).

I purchased with course related costs a windows tablet/laptop to assist with studies. With this I can keep a full library of textbooks (e-copies) on me to refer to at all times, view teaching resources in lectures, and because it runs like a laptop, it will allow me to study and complete course work practically anywhere. Unfortunately after only 24hrs (almost to the minute) while exiting my car, my tablet dropped onto the road, completely wrecking it (not just a cracked screen). As you will no doubt be aware, student life doesn't pay very well, and with three kids and a house to run, I'm uninsured, and budget week to week with very little left over, therefore I am unlikely to be able to afford to replace in the near future.

I'm the sole recipient here, and make no apologies for it. In the time that I was able to use it, I found that the tablet was going to be invaluable as a piece of study kit. Even just the capability of having a full library at my disposal at all times (not to mention the fact that digital copies of books are significantly cheaper than their paper versions) and weigh exactly nothing is enough for me to consider it vital as part of the master plan.
