Canterbury Cruise Control

Once upon a time, a group of enthusiastic "runners" from different walks of life, with different life stories; decided to form a team and enter the most exciting road relay of the land.

It started with one Hagley Parkrun, a gift from many volunteers who would give their time early Saturday morning so the community would have their awesome dose of 5K run. Naturally they would talk about how their run went and the excitement to look forward to the next. Evidently, the enthusiasm for more running grows and grows. The thought of joining Takahe 2 Akaroa Road Relay - Canterbury's best team running event came into the radar... and somehow they all just came together, the way strangers who become friends do. Unlike any other runs, this road relay matters though. The Canterbury Cruise Control team will be supporting two amazing charities - The Speed Freaks and NZ Flying Doctor Service. Running may have started as simply an outdoor-indoor activity, but for our Takahe 2 Akaroa team journey - running is a refuge, one that feels like a comforting hug at day’s end.
