    The Carterton Indoor Pool Project invite you to an evening of connection and celebration.

    Please join us at 6pm, on Monday 29 April at the White Swan Country Hotel GREYTOWN to celebrate the community’s achievements and connect with the people who are involved with using the Carterton Indoor Pool.

    The CENTRAL ITM Big Swim 10^6 involved over 340 participants, who covered 2,552,083m (including two solo swims across of Lake Taupō), resulting in $52,766.10 dollars donated.

    DAY 31 - the last day has come and gone 😞 , Jas, Chris, Dani and Stefan in the mix today, clocking up 16,475m, and adding another pool with Dani and Stef dipping into the Blenheim pool on their road trip! Thank you team!

    So after 31 days, 11 family members swimming in 17 pools/lakes/oceans, the team has travelled…….. 271,127m

    Awesome effort fam. Well done!

    Thank you to everyone who has swum, aqua walked, dressed up, baked, supported and donated this month. Today is the last day of the CENTRAL ITM Big Swim 10^6. It's been an amazing fundraiser and sooo much fun! It has brought together a community - both near & far. We are still adding up the metres and will be announcing the overall total soon. If you haven't sent your metres in - please email them to kiaora@createasplash.co.nz. To those supporters who have been on the sidelines cheering, timing and encouraging our participants - A BIG THANK YOU, and an even BIGGER THANK YOU to those of you who have donated to save the Carterton Indoor Pool. You have made a community very happy and shown that this pool needs to stay open so that everyone from all over Wairarapa can use it. We may not have reached our audacious goal of One Million dollars, but with your amazing generosity you have given us the seed money to apply for grants to upgrade the pool. THANK YOU. 💕🏊‍♀️🏊🏽‍♂️🏊🙏

    Only 3 days to go! Today we added another 6,250 metres wth Sally, Jason and Chris in the pool. The team total now stands at 236,052 metres. So close now.     Sally, Jas, Chris, Dani, Tessa and Tahu combine for a daily total of 13,702 metres today. how do we get the 2 metres you might ask? Tessa jumped in and swum open water (no wetsuit!) in Lake Rua in Christchurch, as well as a pool swim to add to todays total, Jas and Tess both double dipping! Congrats to0, to Tahu, every swim a little further, must be Tessas coaching! Anyway the team total as of today, with 6 days to go, 214,602 metres. Awesome stuff team!

    Another 8,400 metres clocked up by Jas, Chris, Dani, Tessa and Tahu today to bring the total to 172,750 metres for the last 21 days. That's 172,750 metres towards the projects total of 1,000,000 metres. as we are logging over 8,200 metres a day, the McPhee family are looking good to contributing 25% of the required distance. Just need to nurse the knees and hold off the head colds for another 10 days.....

These metres were so much easier 45 yeas ago when I had a father driving me to the pool and all I had to do was eat, sleep, swim and try and stay awake at school, but I guess thats what I am doing still! 11 days to go!

    Another great day with 4 swimmers in the pool, Jas, Chris, Dani and Stefan, Dani's husband, has jumped in today as well. Today we totaled 9,450m to bring the team up to 137,250m. Welcome aboard Stef. Stef is Dani's biggest supporter in her multisport events, so it is great to have him in the pool with us. Well done team.

    DAY 16 - EDIT. Jas, Chris, Josh, Janie, Dani, Tessa and new swimmer Tahu, Tessa's partner in the pools today, clocking up another 10,000m, bring the team total to 127,800m and adding another pool to our list, this time Dudley Park in Rangiora. I have to say, I am really impressed by the team effort, half the month gone and the McPhees have swum 12.6% of the million metre BIG SWIM project goal for the month of March. Wondering what we might get to if the health, motivation and bodies can last another 2 weeks. Back in the pool tomorrow, maybe a morning swim for a change??

    Jas, Chris, Tessa, Dani and Janie completed another 7,100m today, bringing the team total to 98,700m, not quite clocking over into 6 figures but we battling pool bookings and early pool closures today. Added another swimmer with Tessa joining in and added 2 new pools with Waikanae outdoor pool and Kaiapoi pool just north of Christchurch joining the list of pools we have conquered in the last 12 days

    Sally, Jas, Chris, Dani and Janie in the pools combining for 11,200m, with lengths swum at Keith Spry in Johnsonville, Otaki, Levin, and the Palmerston North Lido, team total now 91,700m, maybe ticking over the 6 digits tomorrow. Added a new pool to the mix today, Coastlands was closed due to a 'hygiene incident', Waikanae closed due to club night, so headed north to Otaki!!!! awesome pool, shared the space with Aquacise until we had the place to ourselves for the last hour! Welcome to Janie now in the mix as well, almost had another swimmer in, Axe, our 2 year old German Shepherd who stormed into the Otaki pool not once, but twice to see what Dad was doing!

    A big day, not so much in mileage, but Sally, Jason and Josh, 3 generations of McPhees, travelled to Carterton today to be part of the BIG SWIM. Josh braved both he chill of the outdoor pool and the hoards swimming in the indoor pool to post his lengths at the Club his grandparents, father and uncle swam for. It was great to see him swim in the pool that his grandfather, along with many others, envisioned and built to serve the club and community. On top of Josh lengths in Carterton, Jason and Chris were also in the mix, with the team totaling 5,100m today, for a 10 day total of 80,500m. 10days down, 21 to go!

    Big day for the team with 5 of us swimming in 3 pools. Sally, Jas, Chris, Josh and Dani combined to swim 12,000m. Big props to our leader and matriarch Sally who completed 3,000m solo in the Foxton Pool today to bring her personal tally to 4,750m in only 3 swims. Her love and respect for the Carterton Club and community clearly evident. Jake snuck in a few km's mid week at RNZAF Whenuapai adding another pool to our collection. The team effort today brings our running total to 68,400m, with 23 days still to go! Thanks to the staff at Coastlands pool for letting the Raumati contingent sneak in those last few lengths before closedown. They haven't turned the lights off on us yet, but its been close!

    We've kicked off the CENTRAL ITM Big Swim weekend with the Wairarapa School's Day. Massive THANK YOU to South End Primary Principal Clare Crawford for organising today's continuous swim, and the kids and teachers for taking part. Almost 200 swimmers covered almost 120,000m. Our CENTRAL ITM Big Swim event total to date is $21,107.

    Going to have have a word with mum about her tardy reporting. Our team leader, Sally ducked into the Levin pool on Sunday (Day 3) and hit out a sneaky 750 metres. That was only a warm up however as she was back in there Monday (Day 4) for another 1,000m!!! Great work mum xx

    Day 4 complete, Jason, Chris and Dani in the pool for a total of 7,000m, bring the family total to 32,350m. Jason had his class of 23 pre Police students at the New Zealand Institute of Sport in the water today as well, and they are keen for their combined total of 19,000m to be added to the tally as well. The will be swimming every Monday on march so we will keep a tally, beside our family total. Thanks to our supporters!
