As a family the McPhees have been closely associated with Carterton Amateur Swimming Club for 70 years. Aiming to continue to do our part
Wellington
Our family team is led by our matriarch Sally McPhee, the widow of Ian McPhee (SwimNZ, Wairarapa and Wellington Life Member) both of whom were Carterton Club Stalwarts. Ian and Sally over their lifetimes swimming at not only club level but the regionally at National Champs (for both Wellington and the then fledgling Wairarapa Centre) and Internationally, Sally as a Long Distance swimmer and Ian as a 2 term President of New Zealand Swimming. Ian was on the committee that built the current indoor pool, with so many others including current club coach Russell Geange QSM, that donated their time and their services to create the only Club owned and operated swimming pool in New Zealand
Sally will be supported by her sons Jason and Jacob, both Club and Wairarapa rep's, their wives Chris and Janie and her grandchildren Tessa, Isabel and Josh, and Danielle and Bailey.
Whilst the family is spread throughout the country and will be swimming in several pools we intend to bring as many of the team as possible back home to Carterton for the Big Swim Weekend and swim a few lengths in the 'home pool'
Whilst we are swimming we will be remembering our husband, father and grandad Ian, as well as Ian's father Arch who after his son become interested in swimming took charge of learn to swim coaching within the club, and Sallys younger brother Mervyn who passed last November, another former member of both the Carterton Swimming and Rugby Clubs as Ian was as well

Cheers Kate, thank you so much. Been a fun month being back in the pool tbh, and to have the whole family involved.
OMG Tara! Thank you so much for supporting us and the Club. Merv sent a fair amount of time there hanging with Ian and Sally, and I showed you the newspaper clipping of Ian and Sallys wedding notice which included a picture of my grandfather coaching Merv in 1962. Thank you so much cuz
