Bay of Plenty

The Bay of Plenty Youth Development Trust (BOPYDT) was established in November 2017 to improve the lives of young people in the Tauranga area by delivering inspiring programmes built on our core values:

To help and support the educational, social and physical development of BOP youth;

To provide support and funding for programmes that provide educational, social and physical development;

To provide support for BOP youth who are socially disadvantaged and/or from dysfunctional families;

To provide facilities and other appropriate assistance to BOP youth;

To foster and encourage interests enabling youth to improve self-esteem and behaviour.

With our ongoing success and positive reputation, our programmes rapidly grew and diversified. We now have six programmes,

Imagine Believe Achieve

Tauranga Boxing Academy

Aiga

Ki Tai

Te Hono

Te Ara Kaha

Our facilitators are highly qualified professionals across all aspects of mental and physical health. Athletes, lawyers, registered psychologists, educators, youth workers and cultural experts support our participants with their unique wealth of knowledge and experience.

Our team also is backed up our strong governance model and Board of Trustees, chosen for their professional skills, networks in the community and a passion to see our local youth succeed. We have excellent administration and processes which ensure we can meet expectations regarding evaluation, monitoring, reporting, quality assurance, and financial management.

Everest Challenge Update!  5 April 2024

Posted by: The Breeze Tauranga 95.8

We are nearly there!

We would like to extend a massive thank you to all of our supporters for the 2024 Mount Everest Challenge!

Hopefully recovery from the hard yards is going well, with lots of deserved snacks and relax time for all of our local legends who took part in the challenge itself, which wrapped up on the 1st of April.

Together, with a whopping 119 participants, and 57 teams, we have raised $46,170 for our legendary local Surf Lifeaving Clubs in Omanu, Papamoa and Mount Maunagnui!

But we're not done yet...

As usual, our donations will remain open until the 14th of April - and we are very excited to see just how far we can get in that time! - Any additional support in advocating for fundraising from within our local community is very much appreciated during this time.

For pics of the challenge, giveaways, and further updates, join our social media communities on Facebook and Instagram!
