CanSurvive is Wellington's dragon boat team of breast cancer survivors, a spirited group that find strength and positivity in being part of this dynamic sport.
Battling breast cancer and enduring its treatments reveals a remarkable inner strength, a quality that truly sets our team apart. This year, we're honored to have been selected to represent New Zealand in the breast cancer division for small boats at the 14th IDBF Club Crew World Championships in Ravenna, Italy.
Earning this privilege wasn't easy. Our dedicated team trained tirelessly through the winter—in gale force winds and freezing cold southerlies, day and night—to prepare to represent their club, region, and country at their absolute best.
At CanSurvive, we promote fun, friendship, and fitness, and are actively engaged in the community. We aim to show other women currently facing breast cancer that there is hope and a positive life beyond this immense challenge.
About us
We’re a dragon boat club for breast cancer survivors and supporters. We are more than a sports team, it’s a sisterhood. We train hard, laugh harder, and lift each other up through every wave. Our message is simple: there is life after breast cancer.
Use of funds
While each team member is personally funding their travel to the six-day event, there are unexpected costs for internal travel in Italy due to the event's location and nature, totalling nearly $10,000. We looking to fundraise as much of this as possible.
