Preparation and chroming of Ford V8 Fire engine bonnet

Auckland

The 1940 Ford V8 Fire Engine has recently come into our care from MOTAT. Our aim now is to get it checked, tuned, equipped and the replacement bonnet chromed and ready for use at events, funerals etc.

We are asking for your help to get the bonnet chromed. It needs to be prepared correctly before chroming and this is all work take money that we do not have. Please help us get this done and the vehicle back to its original condition.

About us

AFBM&HS was formed in 2010 to collect and record the history of Auckland's Fire Brigades from Mercer to Wellsford. The Society is recognised and supported by Fire Emergency NZ (Formally NZ Fire Service) except for funding which is entirely from membership fees and fundraising. Our future plans are to open a small fire museum in the city to display this heritage.

Use of funds

All funds will be used to pay for the preparation and chroming of the bonnet for this fire engine.

In memory of my father John Adam Hume, who died in 2000. He was an ex Fire Fighter and used to volunteer at Motat, along side this appliance. Used to tag along as a kid back in the day. Fire Fighters did a guard of honor at his funeral.
