I've received a Young Eco Hero Award & am raising funds to travel to San Francisco so I can talk to a global audience about Maui Dolphin.
Auckland
Maui Dolphin are crying out for the world to help bring them back from the brink of extinction, but people can’t hear them over the cacophony of trawling, set netting, and dangerous oil and gas exploration. I want to change this. I want to give Maui's a voice but I need help.
I’ve been lucky enough to be one of the winners of the 2015 Action for Nature International Young Eco Hero of the Year awards. I was ecstatic when I found out, in fact, I still am! The awards event & conference takes place in San Francisco on 24/25 October 2015 and I've created this Givealittle page to help me raise the money for travel and accommodation costs to make the trip because the Action of Nature conference organisers have said that if I can make it to America, then I can speak to the attendees about the Maui Dolphin. This is an amazing opportunity for me to spread the word of the immense importance of saving the smallest and rarest dolphin in the world to an international audience.
Will you help me? I've calculated that I need to raise $8,500 for the air travel for me and my adult travelling companion (NZD5000), plus accommodation for 6 nights near the venue, which is San Francisco State University (NZD1500-2200), plus travel and other necessary costs like meals, insurance, tipping and airport taxes (NZD1300).
Your support will be acknowledged on my website and on all the literature that is being produced to raise funds for my trip. And I’m more than happy to do something for you in return.
We may have lost as many as 10 dolphins in the last 4 years I've been working to save them. This is a sad statistic. If we continue like this, the whole species could be extinct by as early as 2025, which would not be a good look for "clean and green, 100% pure" New Zealand would it? I am determined to stop this!

Thank you so much for your time, it really does mean a lot to me. If you have any questions, I’d be more than happy to speak with you.

I love my Maui Dolphin t-shirt from Mr. Vintage in Sandringham, so I rang the shop and asked if they'd donate a t-shirt so I could sell it at the movie fundraiser we're holding on 6 Sept. Guess what arrived in the mail - 12 t-shirts!! Thank you so much Mr Vintage. So, anyone want to buy a Maui Dolphin t-shirt ....
