2021 MUSTER: SPONSORSHIP FOR MATURE MARES

$6,000 of $3,000 goal
Given by 74 generous donors in 7 days

Help us place mature mares with KHH approved trainers for taming.

Nationwide

For every $1500 raised, an additional mare will be able to be placed with a KHH approved trainer, who has previous experience training mature mares from past musters.

With mature mares most in need of homes this is a rare opportunity to help rehome extra mares. Currently we only have 3 trainers, with spaces, in a position to take on additional mares, but are actively searching for more KHH approved trainers who may be able to help in the future.

The funds raised will cover the basic costs of the horses; including, but not limited to the purchase price ($250), transport (up to $400), 12 weeks of hay/feed ($50 per week) as well as equine dental work ($220).

If there are no mares needing the help at the end of the muster then the money will be used on young stock or stallions who are equally in the need of help.

About us

Annually the population of wild Kaimanawa horses is reduced to 300 by aerial mustering. We search for suitable homes for these horses, rehoming as many as possible.

Use of funds

The sponsored amount will contribute towards the cost of the horses purchase price, transport to the trainers property, and basic costs (ie hay/feed/dental work/vet care).
