Help vulnerable animals in the Bay of Plenty community and show our local legends that we have their backs too!

Bay of Plenty

This page is to help two local heros who have been dealt a blow they need a community to recover from.

Operating out of their home in Papamoa, Karen and Jase run ‘The Pet Food Bank’ - a saving grace for Bay of Plenty families who are struggling to feed their pets.

This involves collecting unwanted and donated pet food to redistribute to those in greatest need, giving them a ‘hand up’ until they’re back on their feet.

They do this alongside jobs, in their own time, at their personal cost.

Why? They’ve been there.

At the heart of it is their love for animals, and a dream that no one should go without.

In the recent rains, part of their roof has collapsed leaving them with an urgent repair to keep their house safe and their efforts operational.

On top of mounting vet bills for their animals, loss of income and an overdraft to buy roofing supplies, the tradie who promised to get the work done has ‘misplaced the funds’.

Devastating is an understatement.

Through every challenge they’ve kept positive, humble and determined to carry on their mahi - but to use their own words - they need a hand up to figuratively, and literally, fix the roof above their heads to continue the work they do for our most vulnerable animals in the community.

The goal is to raise funds for a quote north of $10,000.

If you have a $1 to spare, it will go towards helping animals in the local community and showing these local legends that we too have their backs.

The roof is on!

The animals are safe 🐈🐕

And the team at the Petfood Bank can get back to their mahi!

A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who has donated, sent kind words of encouragement, and of course to the team at Bradley Roofing for stepping in and getting the roof sorted - it’s a huge relief to be at this point and a heartwarming feeling to be surrounded by such an amazing community.
