A little help means a longer life for Irene

Irene was originally diagnosed with a rare incurable left frontal lobe tumor called an Oligodendrglioma in May 2015, at the age of 25. Over the last 10 years she has had various treatments including an operation, radiation and chemo to try minimize the growth of the tumor.

She has now exhausted all funded treatment options, the only option left to give her a shot at a longer life is Vorasidenib which is not currently government or Pharmac funded.

The cost for this drug is 70,000 per year.

Irene and her family have self funded her medical costs and treatments to date. She has been on Vorasidenib for 4 months. It has proven effective with reducing the inflammation around her tumor.

Irene means the world to so many of us, she loves being around her family. Is a hands on aunty, an amazing sister and daughter. She has the biggest heart, is kind and always happy, she never lets her diagnosis get her down. If you have met her, or spent time with her - she leaves a lasting impression on anyone she meets.

As the tumor has worsened to the point where Irene can no longer work, self funding isn't an option. Irene and her family are humble and private and have never asked for assistance before. Her family have exhausted all options to try get grants, or funding for this medication.

We are seeking the publics help to raise the funds for her to continue treatment, any donation big or small would be more than appreciated.
