Help our family return home to Wellington after losing Mum, so we can heal together and support Dad as he relocates from Australia

On 21 January 2026, we lost our beautiful mum. Since then, everything has felt a little unsteady. Grief has a way of showing you where you need to be - and for us, that place is home in Wellington, surrounded by whanau.

Me and my husband are currently living in Christchurch, but we feel a strong pull to return home to Wellington to heal, reconnect, and support one another through this time. Our dad (76y), who is in Australia, is also struggling deeply without Mum and has made the decision to relocate to Wellington to be with us He will be bringing some of his belongings with him - and Mum, in a vase, so she can be with her family too.

The cost of relocating a household, travel, and securing a rental property with bond and upfront expenses is more than we can manage right now while navigating grief and life changes. We estimate we need around $10,000 to make this possible.

We are asking for support to help us bring our family back together in Wellington, where we can support Dad, honour mum, and begin healing.
