Help fundraise for a tent for Duaa and her family in Gaza
Auckland
Kia ora everyone!
My name is Michelle Langstone, and I’m helping Aotearoa for Gaza Mutual Aid Fund to raise money to buy tents for displaced Palestinians in Gaza.
I am supporting Duaa Madhoun and her wonderful family, who are currently sharing a broken tent with more than a dozen family members in a refugee camp in the South of Gaza. Duaa has four beautiful children, the youngest of whom, Zeina, was just three months old when the family moved into a tent for the first time. She has never known a life outside of the genocide.
Duaa's brother Ahmad and his wife live with Duaa and her children, and Duaa’s also parents in their tent. Ahmad has a ten month old daughter who has severe allergies. Duaa's sister and her children occupy the tent as well.
This family had to flee conflict with just the clothes on their back. Today they all live together in crowded, uncomfortable conditions.
As winter approaches in Gaza, shelter becomes critical. In the camp where Duaa lives, the tents were meant to be free, but now armed gangs have them, and no new tents have arrived for months and months so there’s a huge scarcity issue. Families are purchasing these tents for upwards of $1000 USD, on the secondary market.
We are aiming to raise $1500 NZD which will go directly to Duaa, so she can purchase a 14-man tent.
Once we reach our target, the money is transferred to Duaa Madhoun.
I believe in all of us. I believe in our compassion, empathy and action. Thank you for helping me raise this money.
I am fundraising for Duaa with the support of Aotearoa for Gaza Mutual Aid Fund, who have placed me with Duaa's family for the purposes of this fundraising drive.
This money will be given directly to Duaa so she can buy a 14 man tent for her family, locally, in her refugee camp.
