Basic necessities for the internal Afghan refugees caught in the crossfire
Canterbury
As you may already have seen on the news channels, Afghanistan has been retaken by the Taliban. Thousands of people have fled their villages and now are camped out in the Capital city, Kabul. These people are mainly farmers, they have left everything behind. The government officials have fled leaving the people to fend for themselves. The current situation is extremely volatile and needs our immediate support.
My wife and I were in Afghanistan in early 2020 and we established 51 micro-businesses in honor of the 51 lives lost in the shootings (https://fiftyonefilm.org/). We brought back footage that we hope to share with NZ, next year sometime. We have volunteers on the ground in Kabul who helped us with completing our project. These same volunteers will oversee the distribution of the necessities to the refugees currently displaced. Although banks on the ground are currently shut, we hope to distribute the funds through grassroots organizations.
So if you can spare funds then do so, if not, please, share the current situation with your family and friends.

Latest Update 4 September 2021
Kia Ora team. With your contribution, we were able to raise over 6.5k. We have just heard from our contacts in Kabul that thankfully WesternUnion has resumed its services in Afghanistan https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/exclusive-western-union-resuming-services-afghanistan-senior-exec-2021-09-02/
We hope to transfer all the funds raised as soon as Givealittle makes it available. The money that we have raised will no doubt ease the strain of many families during these uncertain times. We will continue to keep you all updated.
Blessings,
Bariz
