Alex has cancer and needs to raise funds to pay for treatment that is not available from the public health system. The drug that he has been prescribed by his Oncologist is Inlyta. Inlyta is a prescription medicine used to treat a certain type of kidney cancer called "Renal Cell Carcinoma". It is used when a prior drug treatment has not worked or has stopped working or there is unwanted side effects from the previous drug. He has already had one kidney removed due to cancer and now has kidney cancer in his lungs.
Alex is a kind, loving and generous person. Married to Lorraine for 25 years and between them have 7 children, 16 grand children and 4 great grand children. They have welcomed a huge number of international students into their home over many years.
Alex is a builder based in Dunedin and has done a considerable amount of charitable building work for families "less well off'.

The money will be used to pay for medical treatment as prescribed by the Oncologist.
Any surplus would be donated to Hospice and if things dont go to plan, then funeral costs.
