Truc, an 18 year old student being sponsored by Quan Am Foundation in Vietnam urgently needs repairs to her home

Auckland

Truc is an 18 year old girl living in Nha Trang, Vietnam. She was abandoned by her parents at the age of 10 and lived alone to care for her younger brother for the past 8 years. She has received sponsorship through high school and is now being funded to attend University through Quan Am Foundation where she hopes to become an English Teacher.

When we visited her home in January, we realised that the house was in a terrible state and had received damage during heavy rains last year, when the roof caved in. The house is cold with broken doors, nothing to cover up the windows and both Truc and her brother are urinating in a corner where the broken ground suggests there used to be a bathroom.

We have committed to helping Truc with urgent repairs to her home and hope to kick off the project in two weeks.

We are urgently fundraising for the costs and have a builder ready to get started. As soon as funds are received (even part payments), work can commence and her sponsors look forward to seeing the finished results next month when they fly over to meet her.

Quan Am Foundation is a NZ registered charity that provides aid to children living in poverty in Vietnam. 100% of all funds raised will go towards the repairs and we'll be posting regular updates on our Facebook page.

Project Update: Work is underway!  13 March 2017

Wow, we are so incredibly thrilled to see the progress after only two days of the building team working on the house.

Already they have been plastering and painting both inside and outside the house. They have dug up the floor to install the water pipes for (first ever!!) running water and the toilet. The kitchen bench and tiling is installed and looking amazing.

We have $853 to go in our goal to completely renovate this house. This last amount is most important as it's the majority needed to repair the flooring. It's completely been destroyed in order to install the pipes and Truc and her brother are sleeping on the ground right now. She is really concerned, no matter how much I reassure her, that the floor will not be repaired.

Please share with friends and help us reach our goal!!
