Help Angela Royle get a card dealing machine for her bridge club.
Auckland
Angela Royle is passionate about the game of bridge. She runs the Royle Epsom Bridge Club. She brings joy to the lives of the many people who come to play bridge. Angela's is 'the friendly club', and we all love her for making it so.
Due to a series of unfortunate events, Angela no longer has access to a dealing machine, a key piece of bridge club equipment.
Before dealing machines, the bridge hands used to be dealt by hand, and this is what Angela has had to revert to. It is time-consuming, and mistakes can be made. It has added a lot of stress to Angela's life, stress we do not think she needs.
The past three years have stretched financial resources for club activities like bridge. Buying a dealing machine is not an option for Angela; but we could all pitch in and buy one for her. We need to raise about $8,000. If we raise more than is needed to buy the machine, we will donate the balance to a charity of Angela’s choosing.
People who know Angela know she has held charity bridge events over the last 21 years, and has raised funds for many causes including Breast Cancer, Christchurch Earthquake, Alzheimer’s, the Westport floods, Clevedon Volunteer Fire Brigade, Motor Neurone Disease, Laura Fergusson Trust, Save the Children NZ, and Guide Dogs for the Blind.
This is our chance to show our support for Angela. Please give generously and pass the link on to others who might also like to contribute to this cause.
We (Sharon Deaker, Chrissi Bollard, Paul Minett, Carol and Rex Frye, Pam and Brian Stevenson, Phil and Deb Taylor, John and Lynn Wilson) have all been members of Angela’s bridge club for at least 10 years, and Angela has become a very good friend.
The money will be used to buy a bridge card dealing machine for Angela Royle's bridge club, and if there is money left over we will donate the balance to a charity of Angela's choosing.
