Asylum Seekers' Support Trust
To help asylum seekers who have no access to their usual support systems due to lockdown. For food parcels, emergency grants and lobbying.

Asylum Seekers Support Trust (ASST) is supported by the Foundation North who will double every dollar donated up to $10,000.
ASST supports Asylum Seekers. We provide accommodation for those newly arrived refugee applicants who have no means of support, including food, shelter and other necessities such as health and legal advocacy support.
Currently our clients are being denied access to WINZ, with their offices closed due to Covid and the online application system excluding them. This is putting them under huge pressure and we have given out over $1,500 in cash food grants to those without an income and over 300 food parcels since lockdown began. We do not currently have the resources to advocate at WINZ for all our clients, trying to get forms signed and scanned, arguing over entitlements, IRD numbers, bank accounts etc.

The Funding Network NZ (TFN) is a small national charity that strengthens the capacity of small, Kiwi grassroots charities and inspires generosity.
Use of funds
These donations will help to lobby the government to reinstate welfare benefits for asylum seekers currently locked out of the online system at WINZ as well as provide emergency support for their clients who are without money and food.
