To provide financial assistance to the family to meet the ongoing needs of their newborn baby.
Auckland
The Goulter’s welcomed Anaiah Catherine Goulter on July 23rd 2025 💕
Kate and Paul received heavy news at the 12 week scan and after further investigation Anaiah was diagnosed with 22q11.2 deletion (De George Syndrome).
Anaiah’s life and birth was a miracle in itself. Thankfully the complete heart repair surgery (for a Type B aortic arch interruption with an aberrant right subclavian and VSD) when Anaiah was 5 days old was greatly successful. Unfortunately, due to a suspected adverse reaction to the heart medication she was discharged on, Anaiah had seizures and ended up back in PICU needing further medical support and investigations.
Anaiah has also been diagnosed with a cleft of the soft palette which will require surgery at around 1 year old.
Kate and Paul had planned for 3-5 weeks in hospital but are now in their 7th week and being told to plan that they will be there for a few more weeks. This has added more pressure to an already very stressful time both emotionally and financially for the family.
We want to help both Kate and Paul to be able to continue to show up and support Anaiah with her layered medical needs in the weeks, months and year to come. We are wanting to ease the financial burden for them, whether that is helping with mortgage payments or even shouting them a coffee somewhere outside the hospital.
Please do not feel any pressure to give financially as the prayers, messages of encouragement, gifts and other support have meant the world to the family.
Kate’s sister and (new and excited) aunty to Anaiah.
Donations will be used to meet the family’s financial needs, such as mortgage payments, food & everyday items, unpaid time off work, & associated medical costs e.g. private speech language therapist, cleft osteopath, and parents mental health appointments.
Week 16/17 Update 13 November 2025
After almost four months, I am pleased to say that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. After undergoing two open heart surgeries, enduring a staff infection alongside other illnesses, and navigating feeding through an NG tube, there are murmurings of Anaiah coming home. The initial 3-5 weeks in hospital that we had anticipated have stretched out for far longer. In some ways we are thankful we didn't know it would go on for this long.
Whilst Anaiah will still need to navigate her feeding via an NG tube at home (hopefully introducing a bottle), breathing support at night, weekly heart echos, respiratory follow-up, and a surgery on her cleft soft palate next year, we are incredibly thankful that this bundle of joy will be finally joining us at home. There isn't a set date yet, but what a relief it is to begin to look forward to an end of this hospital stay. We are incredibly thankful for the support of our friends, family, wider community and even strangers from around the world - thank you for holding the Goulters and wider family during this time. There is still a journey ahead, but we hope that Anaiah can begin to enjoy just being a little kid.
