40 Hour Famine BackPack Challenge and Camp.
Manawatu / Whanganui
O.k Where to start. This page for my Daughter Ashanti Franklin-Hema and her best friend Emma Stantiall who have taken on the 40 hour famine challenge for the Bunnythorpe Family Church Youth group.
Their challenge is: 40 hour Famine, one weekend, one back pack challenge.
The challenge is about living in someone else shoes and are required to live out of a backpack for an entire weekend at a camp specifically set up for this challenge.
They must take a look around their homes and decide " If I had to leave today, what would I take?"
They will marked on what neccessities they have chosen to leave with (what they thought they couldnt live without) and what resources they packed. They must then live only from what they have packed for that weekend.
They idea of the camp is live the same way thousands of refugee children have been forced to live and forced to live out of only a backpack as they flee from their homes to safer countries.
Camp dates are 10-12 June 2016, location to yet be advised.
All funds raised will be given to Famine.org.nz as a part of their challenge.
About the girls, both girls are 13 years of age and have volunteered to give up their weekend and fundraise for the cause.
Ashanti (right) is a ATC cadate who aspires to be in the airforce when she is older and is a active volunteer for Kairanga Rotary Club where she collects hours for community work which she recently recieved a certificate for most community hours for 2015.
Emma is a avid horse enthusiast that aspires to work/ride horses as a profession.
Both have set a combined total of $500 to raise for the cause and are both fundraising online (through Give A Little) and off line through family, door knocking, social/sporting events etc.
Please donate to help with their target and to help those children who really need it. Every little bit helps.
