Baked Beans sudden decline into the Can

$810 donated
Given by 18 generous donors in around 3 months

Help save Baked Bean from ending up in a can! My wonderful cat, Bean, has suddenly got very sick and we need help to save him.

Christchurch, Canterbury

Bean has been my cat for over 7 years. He's a talented, wonderful, smart boy who gives a lot of joy. He suddenly and unexpectedly declined over three days and is in hospital with the veterinary specialists to try to figure out why he suddenly got so sick. I've spent everything I can give on him and he's my life. I don't want him to end up in a can (cremation box).

I'm asking for funds so I can pay for his treatment so I won't have to put him to sleep. Or if I do, to help me pay for his euthanasia. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that. I've given him everything I have but still need more.

Beanie is a really smart and handsome boy. He is fully trained and knows sit, up, come here, on your bed, paw, high five and many other cool tricks.

He's also a great parent cat and teaches our scared foster kittens that humans are pretty cool.

I was hoping I could teach others how to train their animals with him. But when he stopped taking treats, I knew something was wrong.

He's a beautiful ginger ratbag who has dedicated his life to keeping me safe (even chasing off a dog when he was a kitten and waiting outside the dogs property till its owner came back!). He also helps with panic attacks, sitting just out of sight and meowing till I come over and pick him up or sitting on top of me till I calm down.

Any little bit that can be given, myself and Bean would be eternally grateful for. I would like help to get Baked Bean back to being a healthy bean and not a canned bean.

Use of funds

Any money will be spent on Bean's veterinary treatment, or hopefully not, cremation.

Baked Beans on Toast  28 October 2025

Beanie has just finished all his meds and he is back to his usual, chaotic self. I am so grateful for all the support. My boy is doing amazing! He and his brother are actively waking me up, playing, in the middle of the night and I couldn't be happier. (:
