Better lives for Autistic people

Hi there everyone,

We are raising money to pay for venues where our autistic adults can meet up and socialize, do a range of fun activities, make friends and sort out issues and problems they may have in their daily lives.

Our group is for, and run by, people on the Autistic Spectrum who receive little or no support from traditional services agencies. Almost all our people are either unemployed or grossly underemployed, are financially struggling, and most suffer from depression and anxiety which can be hugely aggravated by the isolation many of them feel. Getting together with others like ourselves really helps.

As a group, we are not affiliated with any particular religious or political group but instead respect the right of each individual to choose their own views and paths in life.

Our group started small with only 6 people but now we have over 40 regularly attending our gatherings, with over 100 on our books and the numbers are continuing to grow rapidly as people hear about our group.

Our traditional venues are no longer appropriate because they are too small, too noisy and have become uncomfortable for our people, many of whom also have sensory processing issues. We desperately need more appropriate, quiet venues now.

We have currently located a couple of suitable venues in Hamilton and want to rent them but really need financial help to do so.

The future: We will be setting up a Charitable Trust of our own to deal with future costs but that takes time and the need NOW is very real so...... we need help to pay for our venues and related costs for a period of about 1 year ....... Please help us help to get started so we can improve the quality of life for our people.
