Bird Rescue Dunedin

I'm Sue I run a bird rescue in Dunedin you can see me and some of the birds I rescue on my bird rescue Dunedin page I take in birds that need help that people have found..fledglings that have left the nest to soon or birds that have been injured it is very busy in the breeding season with many ducklings and baby birds that need looked after fed and kept warm till being released. .it's very expensive and time consuming with so many birds with different special diets 24 hr heating blankets teddy bears hay for bedding cages etc the list goes on. I run the rescue on my own on minimum wages it's a real struggle sometimes any little bit helps these wee guys get rehabilitated then released back into their natural habitats and to do this I need to provide all the different diets they need such as chook crumble wheat and cat biscuits for ducks nectar and insecta pro. Raw mince fruit and berries for the fledglings handraising formula I have spent 300 out of my own pocket in the last 3 months to provide the care they need before release which has put me short to pay my own bills so far I have taken in 28 ducklings several blackbird , starling, sparrow , waxeye and a belbird fledgling a beautiful dove that had been badly injured by a cat and have birds coming from.the spca and people that find me on my bird rescue page on Facebook or have been referred to me. All donations soley used for food for the birds that I care for .duckling come in usually only a day or two old and take 10 weeks caring before release so I go threw a lot of food. I'm luckiy enough to have an evening job that allows me to care for all the birds during the day. I post updates and pictures on my page as the rescues progress and are released and have met so many wonderful people in my time doing bird rescue and will continue to do what I can to help.
