I am honoured to be selected as part of the New Zealand Junior ISSF Trap Shooting Team, as well as invited to the Australian Youth National Champion-

ship, which has been a long term goal of mine. The Oceania’s are being held in Sydney in November 2015, and the trip cost is $5000 for travel, accommodation and uniform.

Hi, my name is Blake Murray, I am 14 years old. I have been shooting since I was 4 years old with my Poppa Steve Murray. We lost my Poppa 3 years ago, he was not only one of my biggest supporters he was my life. It was because of him that I started shooting last year and to honour him I keep striving to be the best. I'm currently a Year 10 student and work at Captain Compost after school to contribute to the costs of my shooting. My family, my Mum, Dad, my sister and Nana Judy help me all they can to reach my goal.

My long term goal is to represent NZ in the Worlds, Commonwealth and Olympic Games competitions. My short term goal is to attend the 2015 Oceania competition which will begin my formal path to representing New Zealand. I am grateful for the opportunity to attend the Oceania’s and I really appreciate all the help and support that I receive from family, friends and fantastic coaches and team mates.

Unfortunately, competing at this level is not cheap. My family and I are doing everything we possibly can. All donations received will be greatly appreciated and only used in the costs of the expenses for this trip.

Currently I attend Hamilton Boys High School where since 2014 I have been part of the Clay Target Shooting Team. At one of our intra-school shooting competitions I was questioned about my future goals. My reply was that I wanted to represent NZ in the Commonwealth and Olympic Games; I was told that trap shooting was the option for me and I have excelled in trap shooting since.

It was recommended that the more competitions I entered the better it would be, to gain practice and competition confidence. I have since been shooting in events over the North Island of New Zealand, which has enabled me to achieve many titles, furthering my goal to represent New Zealand.

Special Achievements  11 March 2016

So this week has been very exciting for us as a family, but mainly for Blake. I shall explain, Blake was nominated for the Waikato Academy for Young Achievers for a 3yr program. (Learning of that was exciting enough). But then yesterday when Blake got home from school he had a Letter of Invite(acceptance) into the program, (which was even more overwhelming). For any 15yr old this is a huge step in progress and a great opportunity, as many of NZ's fantastic sports people have gone through this program. WOW just wow. We are so very proud of our son.
