Bobby was in a hit & run accident & has sustained severe leg wounds that will require visits every 3 days to the vet for weeks.
Canterbury
Hey there. Our precious 8 year old Fox terrier, Bobby, was hit by a car on Thursday night, the 12th of December and the driver never stopped. He was taken by a Good Samaritan to the local Emergency After Hours Vet.
He has serious wounds to both his back legs which will take weeks to heal. He is going to have his first surgery today to close the wounds that can be closed and the rest will have to be bandaged as open wounds and left to close naturally. This means we have to take him to the vet every day for weeks for bandage changes and have been advised he most likely will need to be sedated each time.
We have maxed out the credit card $800 so far and applied for an emergency personal loan of $1000 (yet to be approved) and at this stage have no idea how much more will be needed with the on going wound care.
It is very humbling and hard to be asking for help - but for a dog who for me become part of my life when I married his Dad last year I have no hesitation in trying to get the funds for his treatment however I can.
Funds will be used solely to pay the veterinary bills at After Hours & Shirley Vet Clinic in Christchurch, New Zealand & repayment of the emergency loan (if approved). Any funds that are left will be donated to the Christchurch branch of the SPCA.
Thank You and Goodbye 21 January 2020
The time is finally here! Our Bobby boy has healed enough from his car accident that he is bandage and collar free. His newly healed skin is remains fragile so still no bath (after one month phew) for a bit longer.
Thankyou so much to everyone for their love and support - we could not have done it without you all. Much love from the Dyer’s and of course Bobby xx 🐶🐾❤️
Hey Ange - thanks so much for your support. He looks such a wag in his pants - but they are doing the trick. He’s mighty sick of the collar though and now turns his head this way and that to avoid me putting it on him lol. You are right - every bit helps with these vet bills. So thanks again and happy new year x
Thanks so much for your help Kris. Bobby is at the vets now - they thought his pants were very cute. Will pop an update up once I pick him up. Hopefully it is all good news. Thanks again for your help x
Thank you so much Millie - it takes a village to raise a child and we also have a wonderful village helping Bobby recover so every cent helps tremendously. We really do appreciate the support no matter what the size. Thank you again and have a wonderful Xmas x
Hi Annie - thanks so much for helping out our Bobby. He has been so amazing with the surgery and all the bandage changes - not one growl, whine or nip. Just lies there and keeps his feet still - which he was that good all the time lol. Thanks again for your help and Merry Christmas x
Hey Catherine - thank you so much for your help. Who would believe that bandage changes could cost so much! Though with the frequency they are able to keep on top of any infection that maybe lurking. He has been good today lol and at my feet as always as I type this. Merry Christmas to your family also. Love Bobby and family x
