Cancer Nurse needs your kindness
Canterbury
Have you ever been lucky enough to meet somebody so genuinely kind that they would go out of their way to help a complete stranger?
Well, that's Anna.
For several years Anna has poured her kindness and compassion into caring for cancer patients.
She found her soulmate, had their dream wedding and started their family.
When she isn't busy working as a Registered Nurse, she is busy enjoying quality time with her family. Her three children, aged 3 years and under, are her greatest joy.
In October 2018, whilst on maternity leave, Anna was given the devastating news that she has a form of bone cancer which is rare for a person in their 30s. The treatment for this is intense chemotherapy for several months followed by major surgery then more chemotherapy treatment.
Having a wealth of knowledge and experience has only added to Anna's fear of her arduous journey ahead.
Having devoted many years of her life to educating and supporting families through this life changing disease, it's now Anna's turn.
She has wiped away tears of heart-broken relatives and held the hand of many scared patients. She has administered the chemotherapies that she is about to receive. Now it's Anna's turn to feel such love and care.
Anna's incredibly supportive husband, Andy, is trying to maintain a normal routine for their children as well as offer the emotional support his wife needs but he is also busy running his own business. Hopefully, with your support, he will be able to take some days away from work to be at his wife's bedside through the most terrifying experience of their lives.

Anna's journey continues 17 April 2019
Thought it was time for a brief update.
Anna has had her first few months of pre-surgery treatment which came with every debilitating side effect going. Unfortunately this meant more time spent in hospital than originally planned which has been hard both emotionally and financially
Surgery was the next hurdle/milestone in the journey. This too was complicated and resulted in a second surgery. You can only imagine how tricky this made things for Andy as he manages his own business and cares for his 3 small children and wife who has spent weeks in the confines of a wheelchair.
Now that Anna is almost able walk short distances she is able to enjoy those special moments with her children, like swinging in the park, bath time and snuggles before bed.
Currently Anna is spending lots of her time in hospital again and she is having more intense chemotherapy which has a few months yet to go.
The overwhelming support has been truly appreciated by Anna, Andy and their wider family. For the Philips however, the journey is far from over.
