A number of burglaries involving both private residences and businesses on Whangarei Heads means we now have to install cctv cameras.
Northland
Over recent time there have been a number of burglaries involving both private residences and businesses on Whangarei Heads. As residents we all appreciate the very special place we live in and the common desire to keep criminal activity away from our area.
The Heads has one special feature that we can utilise – there is only one road in and out.
As a community we can act. We are launching this Give a Little page to raise funds to install a CCTV camera network incl signage in the Whangarei Heads area. These cameras will be mounted on private property and record all vehicle movements, and in particular number plates, in and out of Whangarei Heads. This information assists the police significantly when an incident occurs. More Importantly once it is known that all movements are recorded the criminals are usually put off.
Other communities that have joined together to put in a CCTV camera have found that crime drops substantially or all together.
This initiative involves all our community and is being coordinated by the Discover Whangarei Heads Tourism Group. Please support it. We are a special community.
I’m involved on behalf of the ‘Discover Whangarei Heads Tourism Group Inc’ being the secretary of this group.
Next CCTV Camera and Signage 3 December 2016
We are very pleased to let everyone know the CCTV camera at Parua Bay Village has been upgraded to the latest in CCTV technology (within our budget) and that we are currently working on the next install along Whangarei Heads Road. We have also had 6 CCTV warning signs put up with the generous help from NorthPower. It is a legal requirement to have signage when installing CCTV cameras.
Our Givealittle page has been extended to the end of January in the hope we will be able to reach our target funding for all 3 cameras. Current funding has only allowed us to purchase 2 cameras on behalf of the Whangarei Heads Community.
Thank you for your continued support and please don't forget to share the page with your local friends and family.
