Auckland
Many of you have followed my judo career over the years, the highs, setbacks, and side steps. The ultimate goal has always been to qualify and compete at the Olympics. I now need your help more than ever!
To be a serious contender for the 2020 Olympics, I need to take full advantage of the remaining 18 month qualification period. This will kick off in March 2019, at which point I will need to be a regular face on the international circuit.
The plan is as follows:
March - South America - Competition - $5000
July - August - Europe and Asia - $8000
My attendance at each of these is reliant on securing funding. As you all know, I am 100% self-funded, so every penny really does help.
If you or your company wish to discuss direct sponsorship, please get in touch :)
All funds will go towards travel and accommodation on above tours. Any surplus will be put towards future tours, training, support services, equipment, and reduced income. Where I don't reach targets for all of the above, funds will be put towards plan B.
World Champs 5 September 2019
World champs was a great success, placing top 32 in the world after losing to world number 3 was a great confidence boost and valuable points builder.
I'm now settled in Prague where I'll be based for the most of September. Later in the month I'll head to Luxembourg to compete, followed by a couple of training camps, and another comp in Estonia. From there, I'll start making my way home stopping in Perth for the Oceania open.
Before leaving on this tour, my contract at work was ended leaving me jobless adding a little more pressure on my finances. Silver lining is that I can now focus on judo with no distraction for the next 2 months :)
