Help for Chris East and family while he recovers from surgery to remove bowel cancer.

Chris was diagnosed with small bowel cancer back in May 2024. His cancer is rare and slow-growing, and after many tests and meetings between health boards to determine the best treatment, they have finally booked him in for surgery on 23/07/24. During the surgery, they will remove the affected part of his bowel as well as the lymph nodes around it. Chris will be in the hospital for 5-7 days and then will be off work for 4-6 weeks. Chris has asked me to create this Give a Little page to help relieve some of the financial stress he is facing. He is the primary income earner in our family, and although we have tried to save, we do not have enough to cover our rent, food, petrol, etc. Chris only has three weeks of leave available, so we could be looking at 1-3 weeks with no pay. He has spoken to Work and Income, and unfortunately, unless he leaves his job, they will not provide assistance for the 1-3 weeks we need.
