Give the gift of clean water to rural Cambodians by donating towards our water and sanitation project!
Drinking from dirty water sources is the number one cause of illness and death in rural Cambodia. People walk long journeys to filthy ponds and streams in order to collect water used for drinking and cooking. This results in days of work and school due to dysentery, and at worst, death! Meanwhile, often there is clean water metres beneath their feet! Asian Outreach Cambodia (AOC) staff locate the best site to drill and then build hand-pump wells that can serve an entire village.
In other cases, AOC supports individual families in building Water Filters which purify dirty water and make it drinkable! Also, without toilets, 'open defecation' in the bush, is common for many families. This increases the contamination of local water sources and also puts people at risk of being attacked by snakes and sexual predators. AOC partners with families to build latrines so they have somewhere private, safe and hygienic to go to the toilet.
We take for granted turning on the tap and being able to drink without fear of ill-health. By donating, you can offer that same opportunity to families in the rural area of Stung Treng, Cambodia.
Asian Outreach New Zealand (AONZ) is a Christian NGO that's been empowering and transforming the lives of families across Asia for 50 years. AONZ works with local partners to bring holistic and sustainable development to the most vulnerable areas in Asia.
Your donations will be spent on hand-pump wells, BioSand Water Filters and latrines for rural Cambodians who lack access to clean water.
