CUE Haven Kaipara Harbour Viewing Platform
Help us build a viewing platform at CUE Haven so visitors can enjoy spectacular views of the Kaipara Harbour and the growing native forest.Auckland
CUE Haven is a former dairy farm that has been restored to a native New Zealand forest by the community and for the community. CUE Haven is owned by the CUE Haven Community Trust (a NZ registered charity). Since 2008 over 4,500 volunteers have planted in excess of 170,000 trees and built 4km of walking tracks.
We are fund raising to build a viewing platform at the top of the property so visitors can enjoy expansive views of the Kaipara Harbour and the regenerating native forest.
The viewing platform incorporates Maori design elements to reflect the cultural history and the historic pa site at CUE Haven.
The architectural design for the viewing platform was done by Gemma Campbell for her Masters in Architecture degree thesis at Unitec. Ascension Surveyors, Beca, Surround Landscape, Unitec and Wharehine have very generously contributed their time and services pro bono.
We now have the building consent and a grant from Foundation North to get started. We still need funds to pay for the materials and for the construction work and need funding support from the community.
This will be the only public viewing platform in the South Kaipara area and any contribution small or big is most appreciated. Donations to CUE Haven are tax deductible. Be part of this community project and leave a wonderful legacy to current and future generations.
CUE Haven is a former dairy farm restored into a native NZ forest reserve by the community for the community. Since 2009 the community has worked together to create a green space for current and future generations.
Use of funds
Funds will be used to pay for building materials and construction costs.
