Help Rach & Clint as they navigate their way through insurances & rebuilding their lives after the destruction Cyclone Gabrielle has left
Gisborne
In the hours between Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th when Cyclone Gabrielle hit NZ hard, our friends Clint, Rach & Kalea self evacuated their beautiful home that looks over Waimata River ‘just to be safe’. Returning to their home they were confronted with a heartbreaking sight – their home and entire property filled with water past their waist in some areas, They have clothing, photo albums and their health but have lost everything else, everything they have worked so hard for. Anyone who knows Rach and Clint know they go out of their way to help others, they would give the clothes off their backs. Now they need our help. If you are able to help in anyway to try and take some pressure off for The Daly Whanau while they come to terms with trying to rebuild their lives and wait for their insurance, it would be much appreciated.
Friends
All monies will go to Rach & Clint to hopefully take some financial strain as life goes on around them, food, bills etc..
Daly Whanau Aftermath Cyclone Gabrielle 1 March 2023
Haimona Ngata put together the aftermath video for the Daly Whanau returning home days after cyclone Gabrielle. You can find out more about Haimona at www.haimonangata.com or drop an email!
Our good friends here in Gisborne, Clint and Rachel Daly literally lost everything in Cyclone Gabrielle.
They narrowly escaped their completely flooded family home with the clothes on their backs, and a few small possessions.
‘Salt of the earth’ is a saying that has been shared around in recent times, and Clint & Rach are the physical definition.
They’ve worked hard for everything they have, always willing to give to others without a second thought, enjoyed entertaining friends and family in their home, and have raised two well rounded adult children.
As they were still coming to terms with the reality of their situation, a few of us headed over to help them retrieve some personal items from their red stickered whare.
I grabbed a few tools, and gumboots, but I also randomly grabbed my camera bag, and asked them if it would be ok to shoot something.
Hopefully this footage puts into perspective the huge impact and displacement that the recent weather events have had on the people here in Te Tairāwhiti.
People have lost everything, their homes, livelihoods, animals, and in some cases, loved ones.
