Help us provide more performing arts opportunities to our rural community's youth!
Nelson / Tasman
Dance Collective Mohua /D.C.M is an exciting new dance collective founded by Cynthia Lorrian in our special little town of Takaka, Golden Bay (at the top of the south island, NZ!). Takaka is situated an hour or so's drive away from the next town and 2 hours drive from Nelson city. We think our tamariki deserve to have opportunities to learn and participate in more dance and performing arts in their community! D.C.M's main goal is to provide a space for all potential teachers and students and those supporting them to come together to share their passion and skills for dance and create a well held waka to travel in. Dance Collective Mohua is also currently in the process of becoming a charitable organisation.
Cynthia Lorrian has been providing contemporary, ballet and improvisation classes in the bay for the last few years. This year sees an exciting development in her vision of dance and performance art in Golden Bay. During the week Cynthia will teach a small group of youth aged 10 to 17 who are passionate about dance and want to expand and deepen their dance skills and opportunity for their future in dance. Cynthia will also continue her after school classes for the remaining students aged 5 to 17.
Dance Collective Mohua has a further vision of developing the space into a performing arts centre that will engage and benefit our community's youth primarily as well as all those with passion for the performing arts. D.C.M will create, produce, and present performance works involving performing art students across Golden Bay. But we need help to make this dream a reality!
