David McNab for Hamilton City Council

My name is David McNab, and seek your support to win election to Hamilton City Council.

My campaign is running on an absolute shoestring, so I need your help to get the message out there.

I am affiliated with Team Integrity, a project of the Hamilton Ratepayers and Residents Association. The core values of Team Integrity are Democracy, Integrity, Accountability and Transparency.

This means paying respect to YOU, the voter, and delivering decent value for your hard-earned rates money. This means getting all major decisions out in the open, and obeying the will of the people, and not doing secret deals in shady back rooms.

Team Integrity will transform Hamilton City Council by bringing quality governance, to stop the massive debt blowouts and rates hikes that have been happening in the last few years.

As well as this, I want to make Hamilton City Council simpler and easier to deal with. It's not acceptable that council compliance adds over $200k to the cost of an average house build. It's even more unacceptable that we will soon be paying over $200/week just in rates for the average home.

Small/medium business is the life-blood of Hamilton, and includes over 95% of employers here. Self-employment is a tough path as it is, so I will work to make Hamilton an easier and more hospitable place to do business.

Culture runs to the core of a city's soul. Live performance venues which can manage their patrons deserve simpler licensing with the choice of longer opening hours.

Technology brings huge opportunities. I will champion a proposal to leverage the latest technology developments to make Hamilton more accessible than ever before. This means smarter app, better website. This means easier and faster ways to get around, to find and get to events, to engage with Council, and to enjoy the fruits of your and your family's hard work.

I have a background in governance, having served a term on Massey University Council, and am continuing my professional development with the NZ Institute of Directors. Not only this, but I currently serve as president of the Massey University Extramural Students Society, advocating for the interests of Massey University's 10,000+ distance students.

In my other work experience, I am an IT multi-skiller, with background as a software analyst/developer, helpdesk analyst, and business development manager. Education-wise, I hold a management degree and postgraduate certificate from Massey University, and am currently working on a masters thesis.
